Designer & Developer

The new website for Dutch music video channel TMF (The Music Factory) is primarily focused on Music but also connects seamlessly to the media experience and communication patterns of the modern day youth. They’re able to watch live to TMF while they’re chatting in the same screen. The extensive video library has also expanded. This means visitors can view shows such as Gamekings, Movie Facts and Winterbase online. They have more control of what they’re watching online because they can choose what they see online, a specific artist or only music video’s in a specific genre. The TMF ID members also have the opportunity to create their own music video playlist.
TMF ID
The social networking section of the TMF website, also known as TMF ID, has also expanded. Now TMF ID members can collect points to get a higher rank which means they can upload more photos, get a larger mailbox, add more friends and countless other possibilities.
The new site is more user-friendly than the old site and is much faster due to new servers. Besides the servers the speed gain can also be explained by the extensive separation of content and presentation by using XHTML/CSS instead of Flash which was used primarily on the old website. Thanks to these speed gains TMF ID members will come back more often and will stay longer on the site. The new TMF site was created by the TMF Interactive department, including me for the technical development and the design, at MTV Networks.

I am currently Senior Designer Digital Media at MTV Networks. I live in Amsterdam in The Netherlands. I was born in 1983 and in 2007 I received my Bachelor of Engineering in Mediatechnology at the Hogeschool Utrecht, University of Applied Sciences. This website is part personal blog, part portfolio and part nonsense. If you would like to know more about me, drop me a line or add me on Hyves (Dutch) or LinkedIn.
